Belle Chasse, LA - Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich, Jr. was proud to present the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) Quarterly Awards from the 2nd quarter of the 2020 - 2021 fiscal year (October to December 2020). The PPSO Quarterly Awards honors an employee from an enforcement position, an administrative employee and a correctional officer who consistently perform at a high level while recognizing exceptional moments of going above and beyond the call of duty.
On February 25, 2021, Sheriff Turlich and the recipients of the quarterly awards gathered at the PPSO Administrative Building in Belle Chasse for the awards presentation. District 2 Patrol Lieutenant Thomas Howard was named the recipient of the Enforcement Deputy of the Quarter after entering a burning residence rescuing the two elderly home owners including carrying a disabled male on his back as they exited the structure safely. As the Administrative Employee of the Quarter, Daphne Buras was selected due to her seamless transition after being reassigned to the Tax Office and tasked with assisting the detention center with monthly billing of inmates which resulted in payment of approximately $100,000 of backlogged invoices. Assigned to the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center (PPDC), Nillyreth Liberato was chosen as the Corrections Employee of the Quarter for her consistent work ethic and productivity as well as making strides to assure inmates are held accountable for violating PPDC rules and regulations.
"Saving lives, fiscal responsibility and individual accountability are just a few of the many aspects we constantly work hard at everyday in order to provide the best service possible to the citizens of Plaquemines Parish," said Sheriff Turlich. "Congratulations to Thomas, Daphne and Nillyreth for their hard work and dedication to the sheriff's office and the community."
Join Sheriff Turlich and PPSO in congratulating Lt. Howard, Daphne and Deputy Liberato on their accomplishment and job well-done.
